So newcomers taking advantage of Ratz free speech policy (a too rare commodity even with atheist forums nowadays) are using Ratz as a toilet now?
No, actually, I think pretty much everyone who uses ratz takes advantage of that policy, and I'm happy to see people here who don't feel welcome elsewhere, but saying that Brian is "out of touch" and that now "this is the refugee camp from ratskep now" as if it somehow changes the purpose or negates the original ethos of the forum is silly to me. You can say what you want (and I am using the generic you, and this applies to people on every side of these arguments), and have different opinions without making things ugly and personal or constantly calling people names and pushing them into boxes...or at least I think it would be nice if people could, but that's just my opinion. I get tired of the "whatever, fuck you, we can say what we want here" attitude that is common now because while true to a large extent, it completely ignores the 'play nice' bit.

And yeah, sometimes people are going to drop into your conversation and make a stupid remark or a joke or insult, and rolling with it is always going to work better than doubling-down on the seriousness :dunno:

Also, just because someone doesn't like YOU doesn't mean they can't handle different opinions, they maybe just think the way you put across your opinions is obnoxious...or maybe that you smell funny :tea:

I do think the demographics of Ratz has changed since I first joined, judging by the members who start threads now. That is not a criticism by the way because forums have to be able to grow organically or die. Older members posting every blue moon complaining of how Ratz has changed without taking part seems just as silly to me. It is certainly not me being offended by members having different opinions to me, as I said a few members make the 'political personal.' I would happily have a beer with any Ratz member I met in real life what ever the posting history they have with me. I didn't have a problem with the name calling but I personally cut it out after a one day suspension which I accepted was getting out of hand.
And yeah, sometimes people are going to drop into your conversation and make a stupid remark or a joke or insult, and rolling with it is always going to work better than doubling-down on the seriousness :dunno:
I don't take the Internet too seriously though if somebody posts a comment like "I don't agree with your opinion therefore you suck", well I will call them out on it.
Also, just because someone doesn't like YOU doesn't mean they can't handle different opinions, they maybe just think the way you put across your opinions is obnoxious...or maybe that you smell funny :tea:
I don't believe that is the case as it is hardly Wordsworth and Shelley prose in the comments around here. It is more like I don't agree with your politics and opinions so you must be evil type of childish responses. Also how very dare you as I have just had a shower.

I've read so many thousands of messages over the past 15 years at many places, that I don't need to put too many people on ignore anymore. I can read two lines of a message and decide right there that the rest is not worth my time.

Don't confuse it with real life. It's similar but...

Ho joy! I hardly post here anymore but I'm going to post here just to voice my disapproval of the posters who keep Rationalia going. Jesus fucking Christ are you so unaware that you are making my point entirely. Either get involved or fuck off, I don't care either way. I personally think Rationalia is worthy of continuing especially with the current attack on free speech, if you approve of the current attacks on free speech by 'witch hunts' or 'mob rule' then state your case and lets have at it. Otherwise you are just another gullible sheep conforming to the latest ideology.

Lol, really.

"I can read two lines of a message and decide right there that the rest is not worth my time."

How is that nothing other then 'I've already made up my mind and anything else is superfluous.' type of response. :thinks:

Too slow. Just checking the alias of the poster is enough. For instance, if you are expecting to read some crap posted by our chief Dunning-Kruger posterboy that he has not spewed forth before, you are definitely wasting your time.

The irony is palpable. It is precisely the refugees from ratskep that increasingly keep this forum going with their ideologically driven drivel.

Rationalia relies on voluntary donations. There is no obligation of course, but if you value this place and want to see it continue please consider making a small donation towards the forum's running costs.
Details on how to do that can be found here.

Hardly willingly but you are right I will be bludeoned to death by lefty liberals for wrongthink for not adhering to the new world order of lefty liberal feminism. The audacity of me to not fall into goose step with my ideological betters. It would be better if I was 'gone' after all the end justifies the means.

You seem to want to define yourself by who you think are out to get you - you only know what you are not, not what you are. You should have a chat with Seth about that.
