Any violence that is invoked as a consequence of free speech I condemn without reservation. Regardless of who is responsible for it. Now Trump
supporters have also been attacked so that has to be condemned too. You cannot just condemn the violence of one side while ignoring the other

It was the UK Conservatives who voted in same sex marriage (Labour certainly didn't), Trump likewise hasn't got a problem with the LGBTQ+ community and said he will protect them. Unlike Obama and Clinton who were against it until the social climate changed aka all they cared about is votes. It's not ideal as there are still too many religious people on the right and Pence is worrisome but I think Trump knows what he is doing.

I was using the term 'liberal' in its common parlance sense, e,g, fiscally conservative, socially liberal. In reality liberals are just as authoritarian as any pinko commie commissioner.

The MSM was caught with their pants down because younger people didn't need them anymore when it came to finding information.

He is wrong, of course, perhaps out of ignorance, but more likely because he is a rabid right winger, and right wingers have no objection to lying as long as the lies are of their own creation. Alt-right was a well known usenet channel for years before the world wide web came into existence.

Given the type of characters that inhabited that channel, and comparing the views of today's right wingers, I regard "alt-right" as a suitable and accurate label to slap on them, and yes, I regard you as a member. There is no formal, monolithic ideology. Rather, alt-righters pick from a smorgasbord of views, the predominant feature of which is hate. That is why nationalism, racism and misogyny predominate.

What did surprise the liberals, is that so many people tuned into the alt-right channels and liked what they heard, read and saw. The liberals of which we speak here are capitalists who have tried to give capitalism a humane mask. Once upon a time they actually made an effort. Now they ignore the people's problems, preferring to chat with Golman Sachs, et al., and deregulating the financial market in order to make it easier for the high rollers to make even more money than ever before, never mind the cost to the commoners. They were surprised because they succeeded to pull the wool over their eyes ever since Bill Clinton's presidency, and thought they could continue doing so forever. When the people gave them the "fuck you, we just found someone who promised to make us great again", they went into shock mode. Though I regard Hillary Clinton as the lesser of two evils, I can't say I sympathise with her. Her seeming concern for the underdogs was a charade.
