It may be authorized and/or penned by Richard, but it is certainly out of character with the person I thought Richard was.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

In addition direct insults like that would have been noted and dealt with by moderators and they were doing a good job at being quick about it.
I think he is more displeased with numerous negative comments he was getting about his books and certain things in them. Most of the criticizing was not vulgar and were valid questions that Richard either never answered or he answered with annoyance.

I just find it sad.
I defended Richard's reputation and ideas for a long time. If we shat on like we were, I would probably be posting that we ought to give the new system a chance, provided there was always an option to scrap it and go back to the forum format if it didn't work. If we were not being shat on I would be posting that on RDF.
