Like I said, I need it. Still, if the only discussion about philosophy is the largely ignorant ranting on about feministic and post-modern philosophy, I'll be out there fairly quickly. I'm too old to be a contrarian.

No way the new, carefully managed forum will have the dynamic of the old forum, if the announced plans will be implemented. It will be... well-behaved, and we all know that it will display all the creativity of a Sunday school class.

Nah, there's no point. I was there basically to take the piss out of creationists and natter on with teh Old Farts. The Farts are all here, and creationists abound.

In any case I don't think I'm invited.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

What a way to phrase the question. Am I leaving RD.net?

Hell no!

Like everyone else it left me!

Certainly won't be leaving the forum; but that doesn't mean I won't stick up for what's right.

Fight the good fight.

I would've given it a chance, but those involved have acted like utter wankers since the announcement, so I no longer want any part of it.

Plus I like it here.

I expressed the mildest of dissent and had my membership cancelled and all my 3000+ posts deleted without any notification or warning. I didn't get a chance to leave although I salvaged my comfy slippers before the ship went down.

My current feeling is "probably", but I'll reserve final judgment for now and see what they come up with. The description of what's planned doesn't sound encouraging though, I have to say.

Most likely not. I had asked to be banned/deactivated and instead was deleted. So chances are, anyone else that asks to have the same done, may also just end up being deleted.

As for my answer to the poll, I have already left. :D

Given that there's no forum to go back to...

I'll let the clever guys here take their backups and then yes, probably deregister officially. Don't want to be counted as one of the faithful any more and that's the method of de-baptism, I understand.

I'm reserving any decisions for a time when I'm feeling more pragmatic. At the moment, my only concern is making sure that all the regulars are informed about what's happened and making sure that people can get in touch with each other. Beyond that, I have no plans, and I think I'll keep it that way. Further, without a clear picture of what the new site will actaully be like, it's difficult to know whether or not it meets my vision for the future, or whether I feel I have any part to play in the future of the forum. The aims of the foundation are still precious to me, regardless of the events of the past couple of days.

In short, I don't feel well-informed enough or in the right emotional state to make any clear decisions.
