As for RD's contributions - It's do as I say, obviously. That he is so easily influenced is the shock!
Er, yes. I can point to a very choice example of that, one laden with irony for me.

Here it is:

I don't know about you, but when a thread degenerates into in-group, cliquish, bar-room willy-waving between a few individuals who all seem to know each other (but apparently don't like each other very much), I'm off. This is not a chat room, it is a thread about the Darwin 200 pamphlet. Very probably there is nothing more to be said on-topic, in which case I'm ready to move out.
In point of fact, he was right in his assessment, but the layers of irony ... don't get me started.

I'll refer you to my fairy protector on that point, thank you.

Way too easy. Give me a hard one.

When PZMyers joins the forum and starts posting and expressing that he thinks this witchhunt is ridiculous (as he did yesterday) then NO I won't ignore what is going on or being posted.
Ah you see, I haven't seen PZ post in this forum, nor do I even like him. And so, I personally don't care what he thinks or says, it's meaningless to me.

I have no problem with people joining here.. does no one understand this? All i have done is ask everyone to calm down. If you want an atheist community - you have one here. But drop the hatred of dawkins and Josh.. if you consider the fucked up then that is up to you. Even if you think they did -
As you might have noticed, the venting has died down a lot already. Along with any insults directed towards Josh and RD. People are already moving on (myself included) and finding their way about the forum, and possibly looking towards joining another forum.
do they deserve the kind of words and hatred aimed at them that we usually expect to be expressed by Westboro Baptists?
In my opinion, yes.

I'll be honest here Eless, you're comments are, in my opinion, incredibly off-putting and some were uncalled for. We didn't ask for Josh to murder RDnet, and many of us were invited to come here. This section of the forum was put up so that we could vent and get our frustrations out. It was not our intention to make the vet members of Ratz feel uncomfortable, including you. So please don't make it seem as if we're doing it on purpose.

And from my point of view, it does seem like you don't want many of us here. And in a way, that's understandable. Having such a huge influx of new members would put me off too. But I wouldn't place blame on them all, for something they have not all done, as you have. Not everyone is insulting Josh or RD, and to claim we're "dragging your name" through the mud, is a unneeded exaggeration.

These past three days have been rough for us all, and I do thank all the vets and original Ratz members for putting up with us in the first place. :td: That includes you, Eless.

Edit: Forgot something!

Life has already set up a new forum, and from what I can see, many of us newcomers are already migrating there. However you're all stuck with me. I like it here to much.

Looks like the amount on this site is dying down already. We only have half the people from yesterday and the OPs aren't flying out as fast.

Balance is restoring itself.

I think things are starting to calm down and some people already seem to be drifting away. Whether any perceived negativity from existing forum members has anything to do with that, we'll probably never know. We have to keep in mind that this isn't a private members club, you don't have to be voted in and there is a chance something ike this could happen again. Maybe there won't be such a rush to send lifeboats next time.

But it did make me think... what if we were overwhelmed by a huge influx from another site that we had no affinity with - say a fundie site or a nationalist site? Just wondering what we'd do if we were outnumbered. Thoughts?

I'm actually really surprised none of the creationists have followed us over here.
