I've been thinking too about what PZ might have to say. Of course, he could decide to ignore it, on the (justifiable) grounds that he doesn't want to comment on a matter that's currently going through the legal system.
A pity.

He's a member here, maybe he will swing by to tell us we are being silly.
We have plenty of regular posters perfectly ready to do that!
Have any religious sites commented yet along the lines of the wages of sin for immoral atheists, etc?

Meh. It's a free

Well, I'll just keep on venting over here. I've not really been that busy there, so I'm not up on their current prohibitions. Keep venting my spleen where it's welcome!

I wonder if some of that terrible feeling revolves around the idea that he shafted thousands of admirers and followers for a scumbag? Nah, I wouldn't give a shit about them either if I lost that much money!

I have some sympathy for him too, but not very much I'm sorry to say. He gave a great deal of money, trust and power to someone who didn't deserve it, passing over people who could have done much better at a more reasonable rate.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

It appears to be the old issues of proper controls, accountability and lines or reporting that we saw with the forum. I guess they were much, much greater than any of us ever imagined. I guess it's just not RD's forté.

"When Dawkins discovered the embezzlement, he says, Timonen suddenly claimed he owned the intellectual rights to the store's website, the Foundation logo and the DVDs that he sold through the store. "
I just keep reading that bit in disbelief. What a scumbag.
"In his 18-page complaint, Dawkins describes himself as "the world's best known and most respected atheist."" I keep on reading over this bit and giggling.
