Re: New forum?
I can understand that some people just won't feel right here, I'm the same on herdofcats.com but I hope that none of you feel you have to leave, I've already seen a few old names and even more new one's that I'd like to get to know better. Good luck to everyone, regardless of what they choose to do.

Where else could you go from the taste of raw egg to licking marmalade off tits in such a short space of time?

I'm signing up everywhere that'll have me at the moment, with absolutely no shame. I like it here, and I have done since I joined, but I do think that it's important that we largely keep our options open. We have no idea how this is all going to pan out yet, so belt and braces it is.

Re: New forum?
Maybe a stupid question, but could you potentially transfer the RD.net stuff across, or would that be illegal?

Re: New forum?
i think josh would need to give us access to the archive for that, in the off chance that he ever would, i don't think our servers could take it.I'm With Stupid wrote:Maybe a stupid question, but could you potentially transfer the RD.net stuff across, or would that be illegal?

BTW I have liked it here the best of those half-a-dozen sites I've had the time to take a quick look at.
"The internet is made of people. People matter. This includes you. Stop trying to sell everything about yourself to everyone. Don’t just hammer away and repeat and talk at people—talk TO people. It’s organic. Make stuff for the internet that matters to you, even if it seems stupid. Do it because it’s good and feels important. Put up more cat pictures. Make more songs. Show your doodles. Give things away and take things that are free." - Maureen J

I don't see any reason why we couldn't access our wn posts and rejig them for flow. This might trigger some decent convos.

Re: New forum?
I have always been a bit of a forum junkie, tending to work mostly on one forum, but retaining membership of a few for different purposes. Ratz was my getaway, because it was cosy and quiet. I have always loved it here, although I have never really contributed much.Ronja wrote:Amen, brother!hackenslash wrote:I'm signing up everywhere that'll have me at the moment, with absolutely no shame. Wasn't someone talking about resurrecting the whole forum earlier? Is that actually possible?hackenslash wrote:I don't see any reason why we couldn't access our wn posts and rejig them for flow. This might trigger some decent convos.

Re: New forum?
It is my understanding that a complete archive exists. Work is required to make it useable in any meaningful way, but work is being done in this regard.

I hope this is not considered spam under the current 'circumstances' but if you feel it's inappropiate I won't complain if this thread gets removed straight away.
I've read alot about people feeling discomfort and who are concerned a new wave of ex-RDF members are 'taking over' Ratz.
That's why I'd like to invite everybody to come here:
http://www.rationalskepticism.org/
I don't want to hijack anything and I don't want anybody to sign off here but maybe you'll welcome this idea as well.
The forum is still empty as I've just set it up a few minutes ago.
Any (ex)RDF moderators, admins and of course regular members are welcomed.
Have fun
However, I have already put down roots here at Ratz. I don't like belonging to more then two forums, so I'll just lurk there from time to time.
