Polyglots?

Post by Wiðercora » Wed Feb 24, 2010 3:43 pm

Am I alone in my quest to become at least tri-lingual?

Does anybody else here speak/is learning to speak any languages other than their first?

Gradual change!
When do we want it?
In due course!

We had a thread around here somewhere about this. There are quite a few polyglots in this bunch of folks actually. I believe Xamonas holds the record for most languages.

I speak French and German, and am learning Spanish.

Yes, I'm native Croatian, fluent in English (C2), studying Spanish, Italian (A2), and have started to re-learn Latin, which will study at college alongside Romanian (A1).

Boring, only English. I can understand Afrikaans, some German, and knowing a little Latin helps to understand simple things like road signs etc.

English and very basic Icelandic. Give me 10 years and I might be somewhere approaching fluent

I've elements (more or less depending on which language) of about ten languages, but honestly, English is the only one beside my native French with which I can claim any fluence, as measured by ability to read simple texts and express myself.
(and excluding stupid mistake and gallicisms)

I speak the language I was raised in, Norwegian.
In addition:
- New Norwegian (different grammar and words)
- Old Norwegian/futark/Icelandic
- Swedish
- Danish
- English
- German
- French
- Dutch

Some Arabic, Russian, Spanish, Italian, Greek and Turkish, but only on a tourist level.

Isn't Old Norwegian pretty much the same as Icelandic?

I see you edited as I was posting
