Third World Lifeboats
What can people in first world countries do to invite more second and third world people? Can I do something to speed up the process for otherwise random immigrants?

To first world countries. Immigration is a hassle. And in some countries, frankly, I feel like we should help volunteers leave if they want to leave. I'm wondering if there's a way I could speed up someone's legal entry into the U.S.

We could do more by improving their countries rather than abandoning them.

Agreed. But I can't individually do all that. I'm not really qualified to correct civil systems.

Go work for USCIS, the most fucked-up government entity I've had the misfortune of having to deal with.

Which roughly translates as "there's not a cat-in-hell's chance of speeding up any kind of immigration into the US."Bella Fortuna wrote:Go work for USCIS, the most fucked-up government entity I've had the misfortune of having to deal with.

Doesn't it seem like as a citizen of a country, I should be able to invite people at a modest rate?

Unfortunately such a system would be open to massive abuse.camoguard wrote:Doesn't it seem like as a citizen of a country, I should be able to invite people at a modest rate?

Which way do you see the abuse happening? Immigrants are vulnerable but they are already trying to get here. I want to help.Thinking Aloud wrote:Unfortunately such a system would be open to massive abuse.camoguard wrote:Doesn't it seem like as a citizen of a country, I should be able to invite people at a modest rate?

Re: Third World Lifeboats
Immigrants may want to move somewhere else, but somewhere else may not want / need / have the resources to cope with them. Any system that allowed existing citizens to preferentially "import" foreign nationals would be abused one way or another, and potentially leave the receiving nation with a major population problem locally or nationally.camoguard wrote:Which way do you see the abuse happening?
