Yeah, that's the bit I've always had problems with with women. Jumping through hoops for them just to get your hole. Once the relationship moves to that phase I tend to move on.Coito ergo sum wrote: During the movie, yes. But, afterwards, you may get your winky waxed. That's the trade-off.

Another lesson for the young guys: don't be a crier around women. But, if played right, you can get some serious mileage out of going to a movie and at a touching moment, let some tears roll out, if you can manage it (sincerely or otherwise) -- just enough to let her notice you do it, and then make weak denials if she brings it up. Chicks dig that. They want you to be hard on the outside, but have a gooey center.... lol (Hades is going to beat me up soon for my rampant generalizing... I love you too, Hades!)

Maybe in a romantic relationship. But try getting any respect if you cry at work.Coito ergo sum wrote:hadespussercats wrote:I cry easily. Genuine crying, I mean. I've been working on it, a loooong. time. I'm better about being able to "man up" than I once was. It's never been something I've turned on to get something I want. Besides which, generally, I don't think that works. People find tears really off-putting, for the most part.
LOL -- that's funny, because most guys are like, the minute a woman's water works start going then WE'VE lost the argument. What can you do? At that point, the argument is over.

I'm not saying tears deserve respect. No crying in baseball and all. But they sure don't win.

I usually think someone has lost when they start crying. Not that I've ever made anyone cry through argument (that I know of).

Agreed, that's a bit different. But, WAY easier for girls to get past that than guys.hadespussercats wrote:Maybe in a romantic relationship. I don't think they get respect at work. But, for a woman they can get sympathy. Not for a guy.hadespussercats wrote:

No, a woman who cries at work is seen as manipulative and incompetent.Coito ergo sum wrote:Agreed, that's a bit different. Maybe it's worse for a guy who cries at work. But wasn't the OP about women using tears to get ahead?

Re: Fake Tears, Fake Emotions?
I thought it was about the sociopathological differences in this respect between men and women, and how men would play the long game and women would be more gold diggers, using tears to get what they want (gold digger being more of a relationship term than a term applicable at work -- a gold digger finds a rich man to support her or looks for guys with money).hadespussercats wrote:No, a woman who cries at work is seen as manipulative and incompetent.Coito ergo sum wrote:Agreed, that's a bit different. Well, I feel like we all established early on that men and women both excel at manipulation.
