Andy Murray is still British ...

Post by klr » Wed Jul 03, 2013 6:29 pm

... for another couple of days at least. He looked certain to be downgraded to mere Scottishness about two hours ago when he was two sets down in his quarter final match at Wimbledon against Fernando Verdasco. But he came through in the end ... :levi:

Oh, and a tweet to the BBC:

Though I never thought that we could lose, there's no regret. If I had to do the same again, I would, my friend, Verdasco.

:hehe:

... but why not just "Fernando"? :what:

Twas a good match. Verdaso was slamming in second serves as hard as his firsts. Murray was chasing down everything. A most enjoyable 3 and a bit hours.

The 9 foot Pole in the semis is going to be interesting too.

I think Murray will benefit from having been really put through the wringer. In all the previous rounds, he was a bit sluggish, doing just enough to win each time in straight sets.

If the Scots are daft enough to vote for separation, I say ban 'em from Wimbledon and...err....start giving Tim Henman the monkey glands.

:pardon:

Anyway, it's Ladies' semi-finals today. It's the first time in the open era that the semi-finalists don't a have a Grand Slam title between them.

You can call Murray English if you wish, he's sour enough.

... and Murray will remain British, while the rest of us recover from near heart-attacks.

No more mentions of Fred Perry then - as long as I've been watching Wimbledon, I've had to hear about him. Almost as bad as England in '66 ...

Wow, that last game, three championship points and back and forth advantage to deuce - I've never been much of a follower of tennis, but that was amazing to watch - very well deserved Mr Murray!
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

That was a good match, and that last game... I think I need therapy now.
