The Olimpiks are coming up my street!
Seems that the torch is going to be carried along the road just round the corner a couple of minutes walk away. I don't want to give a toss quite frankly but I am told that once Olimpiks fever takes hold I will be drooling over events such at curling and pistol shooting despite having about as much interest as I do in turd juggling.
How can I avoid the Olympix madness!? Halp!

Run out on to the street at the wrong right time, and you could be the first Ratz on prime-time TV news.

Jump in front of the torch, let the runner trample you, and shout "Sic semper tyrannus" as you die.klr wrote:Run out on to the street at the wrong right time, and you could be the first Ratz on prime-time TV news.

Isn't there something suitable in Greek that he can say?Gawdzilla wrote:Jump in front of the torch, let the runner trample you, and shout "Sic semper tyrannus" as you die.klr wrote:Run out on to the street at the wrong right time, and you could be the first Ratz on prime-time TV news.
Maybe Archmides' last words might be more suitable ...

Now, we just need a Roman Legionary with a sword and a bad attitude.

The flame thing is a bit weird when you think about it. It actually goes out regularly I believe but there is a pretense that the same flame (as if a flame had an identity anyway) is always alight.
Then loads of people take turns running with it - a couple of thousand miles around the UK I believe - while a pile of idiots stand at the side of the road and cheer.
Human beings are creepy and weird.

Yeah I've just found out it's going by me this weekend. Up to the cathedral Sunday night and down my nearest main road early on Monday. The queen was here a couple of weeks ago too. I didn't bother going out to see her either.
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]
