F1 v WRC

Post by JasonK » Sun Mar 29, 2009 2:53 pm

Idiots going around in a circle? Sounds more like fuckin' NASCAR.

Personally, I prefer WRC to F1. Well, I guess WRC kinda isn't the same, anymore, but it's still the most interesting to me.

They both have 4 wheels (most of the time at least) and go fast and that is where all similarities end. Formula 1 goes around in smaller circles, WRC larger in larger circles ( http://www.wrc.com/jsp/index.jsp?lnk=40 ... ally_id=IE) and different surfaces. Formula 1 has more close racing, WRC has more spectacular humps and bumps. Formula 1 has higher speeds, WRC has more fans that get killed by standing on the outside of a corner.

I would like to drive in a WRC car, but to watch I don't find WRC that interesting.

F1 is an exercise in total futility. The merest mention of it fills me with existential despair, though I concede that the TV coverage does have a certain hypnotic dullness.

The best sport involves driving a Landrover in traffic, crushing small Japanese cars as you go...

Watching motor sports is like watching the highway.

Unlike most sports, which I have never tried. I had the chance to navigate for a small rally outfit. (An army team.). Since then, I can watch rallying with an appreciation, that prevents it from being "dull", to me.

I what fucking parallel universe is WRC better than Formula 1?

Seriously. Ask yourself, which would you rather drive; a F1 car or a WRC car?

That's right. I thought so.
