It was a well worked goal!
Both Nugent's goals were top drawer.

Just in: United have beaten City 4-3 in the Manchester derby courtesy of a late Michael Owen goal. Sounds like an early candidate for game of the season. :levi:

Oh absolutely! it was an awesome game great atmosphere some great goals and general awesomeness topped it all off by Michael Owen scoring a late winner against the scum.

Right. World Cup qualification o'clock again. England have already lost 1-0 in the Ukraine, thus blowing their 100% record. Having already qualified, I doubt they care. Of more interest to English fans is that the Ukrainians are now likely to pip the Croats for the second spot in the group. :plot:

Oh, and I hope those English fans who paid out to watch the game on the Internet enjoyed it. :hehe:

Bulgaria have been thrashed 4-1 by Cyprus, meaning that Ireland will finish at worst second in their group. They still need one more point from their last two games to ensure they get a play-off spot. That shouldn't be a problem, but winning the group is a different kettle of fish. First up, they'd have to beat Italy tonight.

1-0 to Ireland after 8 minutes. A peach of a goal too ... :toot:

1-1 at half time. The Italians are well on top now. :levi:

2-1 to Ireland, only a few minutes to go ... it may not make any difference ultimately, but who knows? :levi:

All over, Italy through to the finals, Ireland to the play-offs with one game to spare. Ireland are still unbeaten. :levi:

I am wondering just how forceful Sir Alex was in urging Rio not to try too hard and get injured in a 'meaningless' match... :tea:

Australia drawn 0-0 with the dutch in a friendly they bossed us and to get a result was an excellent result and taught us alot methinks.

Good luck to the irish and New Zealand in the playoffs imagine Australia England Ireland and New Zealand drawn in one group it would be on for young and old.

So pissed off with that match last night.
I'm sick of Ireland's lax attitude, 'Ah sure no worry. We'll still have the play-offs'.
No wonder we don't win anything. Irish people don't seem to care if they win or lose as long as they can have a piss up during and after.

I think it was more to do with the fact that Italy are almost certain to beat Cyprus in their final game anyway. The Italians never fall at the final hurdle in qualifying.

A comfortable 3-0 victory for England. Belarus were a decent, honest, footballing side but lacked flair apart from one or two moments and never looked like embarrassing England like Ukraine managed at the weekend.

Two well taken goals from Peter Crouch sandwiched a speculative effort from Wright-Phillips that rolled in unopposed. David Beckham lit up the field following his substitution shortly after half-time.

All in all a solid performance by an England side that were never really taken out of their comfort zone.
