I'll bet that went well with the ladies.
The phrase "Oh, oh, oh, wow" tended to follow soon after

It has been an Olympic sport for a fair while and certainly not something anyone can pick up and expect to do well. A good physical condition is required to perform well. Very different to plinking cans down at the range.

I half expected for them to keep going, and going...

Yes, so is golf.
Before I ride or ski, which are the two really active sports I participate in, I make sure I've had a small bite to eat before, and that I hydrate before, during and after copiously. That's about it.

Stone throwin in the land of Ire could be considered a 'sport', but I doubt downing pints is a ritual attached only to sport.
If you drank "A" beer, I can almost guarantee you'll be bringin it back up if you played a full game of soccer, or football.

I was thinking more pool and darts.

i usually loosen up my waist belt, hook on my STS tails, step in and go to tour mode, put a bandana on my head and adjust my shades, maybe a little lip balm, and start skinning up

How did that go? One time, long ago, before I had kids and lived the wild life in New York City I went roller blading after a party. NOT a good idea!!!!

As for a ritual I kiss an egg.

I always take the stance at third stump by marking a spot with the bat. (I'm a terrible on-side player and it rules out LBW's

I double check my settings on the transmitter, test the gyro, test the valves, put the robots on a last charge. Then I take a pee, wash my hands, and transport and line up my robot in the arena.

I have a good brisk sit. After awhile, the desire to waste my life trying to do some damnfool stupid event where I get all sweaty and smelly while people I don't even know yell insults and suggestions at me whilst sitting on the sideline on their fat arse goes away.

I like to have a small stretch and arrange beer smokes remote control and food to be reachable without needing to move at all...
Oh you mean actually doing the stuff? OK, I usually have a piss, a few deep breaths, walk a little and recheck whatever equipment I am using retie laces and adjust clothing etc, I like to spend some time just looking around at the scenery, not so much meditation but normalising the background distractions. Sports I have competed in were shooting (all types) fencing (all 3) and karate. Fun team sports like volleyball and such is usually a few beers and a smoke first. Skiing was eat huge breakfast first otherwise the same check all equipment twice etc.

I put on my shoes. My jacket. My glove. I double check my diopter sight, place the card in the holder, let it move back, take a long breath, exhale through the nose, get my heart rate down and take aim.
