I recently saw a good advert on a Barr's van: it read, "I had an Irn Bru in '66, but I don't go on about it!"

Would be funnier if we in Scotland managed to shut the fuck up about a skirmish in the 14th century.

The Pope was today knocked down at the start of Christmas mass by a woman who hopped over the barriers. The woman was said to be, "Mentally unstable."

Which is probably why she went unnoticed among a crowd of Christians.

Ah....if only we'd had Irn Bru then.....

Who wrote that great song "No gods and precious few heroes"? Was it Brian Macneil, maybe?

"Tell me, will we never hear the end
Of puir bloody Charlie at Culloden yet again?
He ran like a rabbit doon the glen,
Leaving better men than him tae be butchered."

Which is a long way round to saying that of course I agree with you. But still....

According to BBC Scotland, the Scots were behind just about every major scientific, technological or exploration breakthrough in history. Or that's what it seems like, according to my Scottish colleague who watches it a lot. We can both see the funny side of it ...

Maybe we're just good at claiming we're behind them all.

It's all part of Alex Salmond's masterplan. Next up: Giant Pandas are in fact native to Edinburgh. :hehe:

Well there are two schools of thought on the Scottish inventing everything. One, we invented some things and take credit for many more, or... "we'd have been living on another planet if it wurny fur the English bastards!!!!"

Mind you, since it's meant to be a culture exchange, why are we not sending Neds to China to see if the chines can encourage them NOT to breed, like they did with their own folks.
