Well, at least it's a plausible example of racism this time.

But yeah, his being an ex-cop and the treatment he received is open to many explanations, and not all of them will be racism.
I don't mean there isn't racism, I mean there is MUCH worse going on.

It's like they started a campaign 'all joggers matter' and got a bunch of public attention, then the public found out he wasn't a jogger.

It sort of spoils the reality, which is significant in a way that jogging isn't (in this case)
So you mean, it's like Black folk started a campaign called 'Black lives matter' and got a bunch of public attention, then the public found out he wasn't a Black - it sort of spoils the reality, which is significant in a way that Black isn't (in this case)? is that what you mean?

Now, how can we bring the fact that the people who shot this 'jogger' were allowed to walk away without even a cursory investigation into you comparison? Is it that 'joggers' really don't matter perhaps?

Sean's right, racism probably isn't the only factor here, but you've attempted to entirely negate racism as a factor. Why?

Not exactly, but for the same reason I would negate jogging as a factor. If it is found firmly that he was not jogging, this is no less horrible.

If it's found that the killer, and local complacent justice folk are all found firmly non-racist, this is still horrible.

Indeed. But you brought this up and you said that the guy was definitely not jogging and that he'd committed an important offence, the you accused people who raised the spectre of racism of manufacturing a 'bigger crime' then the one the guy supposedly committed, and then you said that the story shouldn't have focused on a Black man being chased and shot in the back by citizens who were then allowed to go home, but should have focused on the 'reality' instead - the criminality - so the story should have been that a criminal was summarily executed by community-minded citizens or something? Again. Why?

No I didn't. I said he wasn't jogging (other video showed him walking) and it doesn't matter. Also, IF he committed offences, THAT doesn't matter either.
then you said that the story shouldn't have focused on a Black man being chased and shot in the back by citizens
I wasn't talking about a black man being chased and shot in the back.
who were then allowed to go home,
And there is the big crime.

Look good and hard at it. Tell me which (alleged) crime is most important:
1. Murder
2. Racism
3. Conspiring to cover a murder

To me, the last is most important.

Where the hell do you get that?

Oh, wait. I remember. If you don't understand, you automatically go to accusations of racism...you go ahead...have your whinge.

Dave Rubin talked with Yasmine Mohommad about this tendency. How it affected them, and how they interpret it now.

It was quite interesting, and I bet those using the accusation would be outraged...except they don't go outside their bubble, so won't ever hear her.

There was a recent hashtag trend, supporting a dead guy who got shot while jogging. Because the news kept pumping up the racism angle, I was reluctant to join the trending support groups.

Turns out he most certainly was NOT jogging, and the offense committed was important so crying 'racism' is kind of suggesting the bigger crime was somehow not as important.

I don't know if the 'bigger crime' was the real story either, but it will be sure that lots of people will still insist that racism was the worst thing that could have happened to that guy that day.

It wasn't.

I don't think you be able to justify, let alone prove the claim that some people thought racism was a 'bigger crime' than the 'important offence' the victim suppodedly committed. All you did was hype the complaints of racism and then say that people were wrongly talking about that when they should have been talking about the reality of the criminality. At no time did you even mention that he was chased down and shot in the back by citizens who were allowed to go home without even a cursory investigation. Your point was to point out that those calling racism were ignoring the real story - which made them hypocrites of course. You didn't just play down the racism angle, you negated it as a contributing factor and then chided people who brought it up. And let's not forget, this is only a thing because video came out that contradicts the police reports and the testimony of the killers.

You have me confused. Or you confused.
All you did was hype the complaints of racism and then say that people were wrongly talking about that when they should have been talking about the reality of the criminality.
The biggest crime alleged here, would be every bit as horrible if everyone involved was acquited of racism, or guilty of it.

It's bigger than that.
At no time did you even mention that he was chased down and shot in the back by citizens who were allowed to go home without even a cursory investigation.
Yes. If he was chased and shot in the back, that is a pretty big crime.

Almost as big a crime as one person can be a victim of.

But the alleged cover-up is bigger.
Your point was to point out that those calling racism were ignoring the real story - which made them hypocrites of course.
I didn't call them hypocrites.

Don't want to, either.

I would rather everyone didn't base their sympathy on his jogging, race or racism, because they aren't even certain yet.
You didn't just play down the racism angle, you negated it as a contributing factor and then chided people who brought it up. And let's not forget, this is only a thing because video came out that contradicts the police reports and the testimony of the killers.
We'll see how it goes, I'm not denying racism, I'm saying that if it is as racist as you want it to be, that is STILL the smaller matter.

The cover-up is bigger.

Sad fact is that on a pro rata basis you are more likely to be killed by a Caucasian if you are an African-American. Anecdotal evidence does become statistically significant when there are enough anecdotes. No surprise there. After all, ultimately statistics consist entirely of anecdotes.

So you talk about mobs and the working classes as if they were the question. You've got that eternal idiotic idea that if anarchy came it would come from the poor. Why should it? The poor have been rebels, but they have never been anarchists; they have more interest than anyone else in there being some decent government. The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all. Aristocrats were always anarchists. - G.K. Chesterton

That doesn't make any sense, but then, neither do a lot of things you post about. I guess believing that would explain your attitude about certain things.

I agree. His attitude about certain things is bizarre. How can one think that about certain things?

I'm certain that Morgan Freeman expressed a best way to address racism in modern America.

But a racist crowd would never accept his suggestion.
