If I earned 10 mil in a year that would be the only year I ever worked.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I'll go for a wealth tax, as long as it follows NIMBA (Not In My Bank Account).
You wouldn't even notice if you earnt in excess of of 10 million bucks a year.
This doesn't make sense to me. I mean, from my perspective, where I'll already have a few million before the big tax hits, it seems fine, but what about people who earn a lot?

If the initial 10 million is 'small potatoes' to them, then they will be paying the highest tax on the majority of their income.

It seems like whatever subtle and complicated tax scheme is used, it gives the advantage to whoever can afford the best tax lawyers.

Is that it? is that all you're up to today?
With this 'problematic stuff', did you read the published papers? The award for excellence? The academic credentials of the writer, and of the reviewing bodies?

Or was I more important to you than all that?
No, I mean is that all you're up to with regards to answering a straightforward question, telling me what you think the role of academic publication actually is? As I said, this is pretty fundamental to whatever it is you see as important or significant about the matter.
IMO, I think the entire situation is demonstrative of a lack of integrity in that field. Nobody is really reading the bullshit they're writing. It's full of bloated, obtuse, pompous and jargon filled crap.

I mean just look at this abstract - it's a real paper. The first sentence of the abstract is barely coherent. The entire thing uses five words where one will do, and jargon where plain language will do. These fuckers have a dire need of a refresher on Strunk & White's "Elements of Style."
A Marxist feminist standpoint positions patriarchy and capitalism as mutually beneficial, thus interestingly situating the new market of male contraceptives (MCs). This project takes an in-depth look at the opinions of 15 young men regarding the use of MCs by examining how Western, heterosexual masculinity informs their attitudes and discusses how a new economic market of MCs may affect current social ideologies about of the sexual division of labor. Because notions of masculinity are essential in perpetuating such ideologies, understanding masculinity as it relates to a new market for MCs is imperative. During a series of focus groups men described this relationship in terms of responsibility, control, sexual pleasure, cost, gendered ideologies, and side effects. As a result of this research, I argue that the emerging market for MCs may simultaneously strengthen power dynamics and restructure labor practices within the sexual division of labor.

This thesis paper is some lady interviewing 15 guys about contraceptives, and what they thought about the new versions coming out. Brilliant.

And your problem with that is what? Is it one of style? References to Marx? Or the context of its publication? Or its relevance to society? Or with the basic idea of it? Some people have unpalatable, extreme or bonkers ideas, some of which they struggle to articulate in standard, non-technical English. Many people articulate their views, opinions and understandings well, whether they're extreme or bonkers or not, and many people write about art, music, literature, film, architecture and even maths in much the same manner as that article. Exploring the nature, impact, significance, or utility of social phenomena isn't easy - at least not in the sense of being able to measure it or see if it turns blue when heated. Are you dismissing a whole branch of academia on the basis of articles like this, or the whole bow; or are you just deploying the narrative of 'grievance' to criticise the output of so-called 'grievance studies' in particular? Should we base our opinion of the usefulness, or otherwise, of academic discussion and review on our ability to understand it from our non-specialist perspectives, or perhaps simply upon whether we approve of the subject matter? Discus.

Tucker Carlson Is Tired of People Yelling "Fuck You" At Him in Restaurants
https://splinternews.com/tucker-carlson ... 1829769468

“I can’t really go to a lot of restaurants anymore because I get yelled at,” he said on a National Review podcast released Monday. “I don’t feel threatened, but having someone scream, ‘Fuck you!’ at a restaurant, it just wrecks your meal.”

Carlson said he only goes to one restaurant these days. “I go there because I love it and nobody hassles me,” he said. “I can’t wait for this revolution to end, so I can go back out to dinner.” (He’s known to be a regular at The Palm, a steak house.)
Of course, he has a First Amendment right to espouse his opinions.

And the rest of us have a First Amendment right to call him on them. If he doesn't want people to publicly call him out on backing a wanna-be fascist dictator, maybe he should stop backing a wanna-be fascist dictator.

How about by how many times an 'academic' paper is cited?

Surely that should speak to its utility, at least...

Or is that too clear a measure? Should we just weigh the pages instead?

They do not. If you explain it to them with small words, they'll insist it can't help you to be armed against tyranny.
