Crime Fiction

This is another genre I enjoy, mostly in the form of well-written police procedurals, mostly from the UK, but some from elsewhere. Here are a few of my favourite authors, in no particular order:

From the UK:
Peter Robinson
Reginald Hill
John Harvey
Peter Turnbull
Barry Maitland (actually an Aussie, but he sets his stories in the UK)
Ian Rankin

From Oz:
Arthur Upfield (the Bony series, written pre and post WW2, featuring a part aboriginal detective)
Gary Disher (a series set on the Mornington Peninsular, just south of Melbourne)

From the US:
Jonathan Kellerman
Michael Connelly (The Bosch series)
John Sandford

From Sweden
Henning Mankell (the Kurt Wallander series)

Set in Italy
Michael Dibdin (the Aurelio Zen series)

Set in India
H. R. F. Keating (the Inspector Ghote series)
Nurse, where the fuck's my cardigan?
And my gin!

I like Connelly's Bosch series, although he had a one off, called Void Moon, that I enjoyed. My wife's buddy, Robert Crais, has the Elvis Cole/Joe Pike series, which I enjoy.

Before he got big, Dennis Lehane had the Kinzie and Gennaro series, which was twisted, but good reading.

Book marking - because there is a good book that I read that could be called "historical crime fiction", but I can't be bothered posting about it yet - by stating that I love the Bosch tv series.

(note, punctuation in the above sentence may be totally fucked making it incoherent. It's not that important, really)
