Big Boys Don't Cry, Don't be a Girl, Don't be a Sissy, etc.

Post by Alan B » Mon Jan 08, 2018 6:08 pm

Such phrases have been used since time immemorial from early childhood to bring boys 'into line' with the perceived ideas on how men should behave.
The result is that men, in general, have had the 'sensitive' side of their nature destroyed or totally repressed and find it difficult to approach the opposite sex without engaging in, in some cases, unwarranted, unwanted and overt physical touching. Many men cannot envisage an alternative scenario where physical contact is not necessary for introductory overtures.
Compare lesbians, for instance, who being female, have not been subjected to the above repression. Do they have to 'Grab Pussy' to begin a relationship?
If this form of male repression can be discouraged or even banned, perhaps we could eventually evolve into a more balanced and equal society with the sexes respecting each other's sensitivities without any initial unwanted overt physical contact.

But now for the 'Sting in the Tail'. If this were to happen, where would we find the late adolescent males and young men to brainwash into killing other late adolescent males and young men from an invading country?

I don't agree with your starting point. Not all - by any means all - men start a relationship by 'grabbing a girl's pussy' or any other part of her anatomy come to that.

No - in my case it was much simpler. Both get pissed and fall into bed. If it feels good the next day maybe there's a future in it.

Slightly more seriously, I was a shy child - and only child and Art was my main interest. I found talking to girls in by teems excruciatingly difficult. I discovered something though when I was about 19, it is actually really easy to talk to girls. All you have to do to keep the conversation going is ask her about herself and forget about impressing her. Changed my life that did!

I did say 'in general'. But the repression is still there whether or not it results in physical overtures to the opposite sex.

The best way to start a relationship is to flash a bunch of money around.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I frittered my savings on an ex's breast augmentation. Yep, I spent my wad on her chest.

I'm going to mention toxic masculinity. Just to get 42 riled up.

Was she lacking in that department? (I know it is all relative and who really cares..ahem).

I think knowing my lady had plastic boobs would be a bit of a turn off for me.

What if she lost the real ones? They do reconstructive surgery.

I'm sure we will be told, however 'reconstruction' rather than augmentation is the usual term in such cases.
