Not speaking about national sides, football teams seem to be a very blended business now.

Muslim Football Players Active In Premier League 2016. There seem to be quite a lot of them, though I don't know how the percentages compare.

Also, a snippet lifted from the Wikipedia I found of interest.
By 2000–01, the number of foreign players participating in the Premier League was 36 per cent of the total. In the 2004–05 season the figure had increased to 45 per cent. On 26 December 1999, Chelsea became the first Premier League side to field an entirely foreign starting line-up, and on 14 February 2005 Arsenal were the first to name a completely foreign 16-man squad for a match. By 2009, under 40% of the players in the Premier League were English.
Again, I don't know how that compares to the German first Bundesliga.

Well, the actual fact is that many Muslims today are "ordinary Germans", especially among young people in urban areas.

BTW: The police is quite unsure what to make of the attack on the BVB Dortmund bus.

There were letters at the crime scene claiming responsibility for ISIS, but that alone is untypical for ISIS as is the content of the letters.

There were reports of two Islamist suspects, but in the meantime it has turned out: One of them was not connected to the attack, he was stilled arrested and will be charged for different crimes based on evidence found in his appartment. The other wasn't even an Islamist. Police had been called into his appartment for a domestic violence issue and got suspicious because the guy has a Muslim background and had an umbrella with the logo of the Hotel where the soccer team stayed before the attack.

Still possible it was an Islamist attack, but there is also a possibility that it was committed by right wing extremists wanting to blame it on Muslims. (We have seen something similar with "Old School Society" terrorist group.)

Actually turns out the attacker was neither an Islamist nor far-right, but just some greedy bastard who was willing to murder people for making money.
