Post by cronus » Wed Apr 12, 2017 1:59 pm

Does sport help people settle their differences without violence? or is that a myth?

This is based on the premise that Muslims and ordinary Germans don't get on together. Don't most Germans and most Muslims get on fine?

Hasn't the wildly successful German national football team been built around Muslims since the 1980s?

So Mehmet Scholl, Mesut Ozil, Emre Can, Ilkay Gundogan, Sami Khedira, Karim Bellarabi etc aren't Muslims? Interesting.

Most of those probably are. But the teams were not "built around Muslim players", they consisted of players, of whom some happened to be Muslim.

Mehmet Scholl for example seems to have been an atheist from early youth and now turned Buddhist.

Sure, a poor choice of words on my part. But for several decades, Muslim footballers have been integral to the success of the German national side, which was my point.
