Some can build a warplan for action but might it be better to chip away at the direction of travel and erode obstacles gradually rather than directly confront NK?

Yeah. Where does North Korea get its weapons from? Are they any good? Who's supporting their economy, giving them access to resources, keeping them afloat? Basically, only a crazy, death-seeking apocalypiticist who thinks the fourth wheel of history needs to be turned manually in that direction, and quicky, would go looking to start (even a proxy) scrap with China.
