Highly intelligent women tend to marry/partner with less intelligent men.

They want to feel superior?
There are more highly intelligent women than men?

Re: women
Highly intelligent men avoid marrying highly intelligent women hence making the selection process easier?

Re: women
Maybe the first time, but for the second time around you pick a smart one. Fucking only goes so far, at some point you actually have to talk to each other. Then for the third one you just go for tits, big tits. Or money. Or money AND tits, that's the winning ticket.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I can't speak for anyone else but spare me any women who watches soap operas, x factor, big brother or dancing on ice. Also a women who doesn't enjoy watching fucking adverts. Women who claim men are scared of their 'intellect' are more likely to be arrogant assholes who are full of themselves and who wants to hook up with them whatever their gender? Fuck me give me a women who reads any day of the week.colubridae wrote:Highly intelligent women tend to marry/partner with less intelligent men.

Re: women
I think if one partner knows, or even thinks, that the other is much smarter, it can only work if both are comfortable with those roles.
In my last relationship I thought it didn't bother me that my partner was less intellectually inclined because he was creative and smart in other ways. Over time though I found it hard to respect him and frustrating he just didn't care about things outside of his entertainment.
A lot of times he would quote conventional wisdom, or just wives tales or even urban legends and I would challenge it and he would get angry and say I was talking down to him. I never intended to but I wouldn't be surprised if I was over time. I know I cringed when he gave his, "I just know there's something out there" routine.
Anyway, then I met a fellow programmer and evolutionary biology enthusiast who I feel like equals with in everything and it's a hell of a lot better. We can discuss and disagree without feeling insulted and whenever I learn or hear of something interesting, he is the first person I want to talk about it with and hear what he thinks.
So yeah, it may happen more often, but definitely not for the best in my experience.

Anyone near an extreme end of a bell curve is likely to end up with someone less extreme out of simple probability, unless there is a global effort to make sure everyone is matched with their equal.colubridae wrote:Why do you think this?SteveB wrote:Bell curve explains this nicely.

Also, is there a similar pattern for men?

[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]
