Misery
What is the most miserable time of your life and how long did it last? and how did you move beyond it? if you indeed have?
What will the world be like after its ruler is removed?

I'm not sure I'm comfortable sharing that information with Death.

I think my most miserable times were in my teenage years when I was lusting after various gals with a major passion, and they turned me down flat!

Re: Misery
Losing a woman from my life that I was madly in love with.
Well, actually, that was just a deep sorrow. I was down. Very down. But it was me as a whole person down in those depths living through the pain.
Misery was drinking to the point where I wasn't even really capable of getting into a healthy sorrow, just a shitty, wasteful, barely conscious and rather pathetic existence.

What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Re: Misery
My most miserable times have been when I've felt powerless. For alomst 8 years I played piggy in the middle wannabe mediator between my son and my ex partner. It was all fruitless and all of us were extremely miserable.

Re: Misery
The most miserable time in my life was when I was working for a group that did research, and they put someone in charge of the group that thought it was fine to remove the control sample from an experiment.Scrumple wrote:What is the most miserable time of your life and how long did it last? and how did you move beyond it? if you indeed have?
Got out of that one by leaving the job. It was time to move on anyway.

Right about now...or getting run over by a drunk driver 40 years ago. Kind of a tossup.

My school years. Time in military detention was a doddle by comparison.

Re: Misery
Early 1998. I had recently lost my girlfriend and soon after lost the job that I hated when I fell asleep during a night shift while I was under the weather. Started going broke and didn't have any real career plan. I barely called home because I had nothing to say to my folks. Didn't even bother looking for a new job for over a month, until my savings account got real low.

The last year of my previous marriage. Constant stress and anxiety. I moved on by ending it. And I am VERY glad I did
