Detecting Aliens By Large Works

Post by cronus » Fri Apr 19, 2013 7:06 pm

If aliens progressed to type III status.

If they did this they could would and should have shifted enough star systems around to make puzzling voids and walls as they sorted to make the galaxy comfortable for themselves. This should be easily observable. The data and the mathematics are no big deal. Unusual circumstances such as stars clustering as if attracted by imaginary gravity would puzzle scientists and the popular imagination? Anyone detected anything like this yet?

Never worried about conformists. But Michio is a bit of a nut. He takes a speculative idea and then makes the unsupported leap that it will work just fine and runs off into cloud koo-koo land.

I don't think that it would.

With a simple ring, you have the entire width of the ring throughout the ring. With a Möbius strip, you lose that width where the twists occur. At two points, you are edge-on to the power source.
P1: I am a nobody.
P2: Nobody is perfect.
C: Therefore, I am perfect

There would also be points when a facility was under repair or being upgraded. These could be the same with enough intelligent design? :coffee:

There's a link in the comments of that article to a paper on the 'ring'. The model of it is a circle with two 'upraised' points - like a cowboy hat brim.
