Do we exist inside our bodies?

Post by cronus » Mon Jan 28, 2013 5:39 pm

Everything I do or say or even think happens or happened outside of my body, my thought of ten seconds ago happened as I stooped to bring a can of beer out of the fridge but now I am no longer there. So where do 'I' exist if 'I' exist at all?
What will the world be like after its ruler is removed?

You don't. You're a figment of my imagination, just like everything else.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

You exist in time.

Probably just a reification of an impersonal series of processes. A useful, convenient fiction. Probably.

Yes! But is it a paradigm or a platform?

If we are lucky, we get to spend part of our existence inside other people's bodies. :tea:

If you were responding to my post, would you mind fleshing out your question a bit? I don't want to go off on a tangent due to an inaccurate assumption.

You were there then. In that point in time. It's like tossing bottles into a swiftly flowing river. Tempus fugit.. all that stuff.

"You" exist in your memories. I can't say for sure (as some people probably don't form very many memories), but i'd suspect without a memory there would be no sense of self. It would be a continual series of WTF moments..
