The interesting thing is that he was probably the least imbecilic of the Republican choices. His positions on the issues are far better than those of Ted Cruz, for example, his closest competitor. If you wanted really scary and bizarre, look at the positions of that religious nutter, "Christian nation," no abortion ever, even for rape and incest, candidate... he said God told him to run for office.

He certainly has not promised anything more "pipe dreamy" than Clinton, Sanders, Cruz, Rubio, Kasich, or any other candidate. You have candidates out there promising to disband the IRS. Bernie Sanders proposes spending $15 trillion to cover all Americans with Medicare. Pipe dreams, eh? And, on top of that, he says he is going to make college and university "free" for everyone who wants to go. LOL. Right - not a pipe dream, that.

Bernie's proposals tend to be extremely vague, like on immigration, he just promiseso "sign comprehensive immigration reform into law to bring over 11 million undocumented workers out of the shadows." He makes no explanation as to what that means -- "out of the shadows" or what the details of his reform are. So, when people talk about Donald Trump being short on specifics, why do they not criticize Bernie the same way?

Bernie wants a constitutional amendment to give the government the power to shut up corporate entities, even newspapers and other media organizations, ahead of elections, under the rubric of "campaign finance reform."

And, you look at Bernie's foreign policy position -- it's total vague horseshit -- BernieSanders.com has an entire issue page devoted to why Sanders supports the Iran deal (short answer: war should be a last resort). He promises as president to "move away from a policy of unilateral military action, and toward a policy of emphasizing diplomacy" but doesn't write off military action in general, so long as it "has clear goals, is limited in scope, and provides support to our allies in the region," opening the door to justify pretty much any military action the United States has taken in the last fifty years, at least according to the policy makers selling those military actions. The usual political double talk with no specifics.

Hillary Clinton is under investigation for serious criminal violations by the FBI for her handling of emails, and has a wild history in terms of campaign contributions. She is the candidate of Wall Street, and the establishment - with some "establishment Republicans" suggesting they would support her, instead of Donald Trump. She has supported every war the US has been involved in since Vietnam (including Iraq, which Trump opposed). And, she is in favor of battlefield nuclear weapons, which Trump opposes. And, she supports the neocon "preemptive self-defense" doctrine, as well as an interventionist foreign policy. She supports the Iran deal, etc. She is also promising an investigation into UFO's and Area 51 if she becomes Prez -- http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/201 ... estigate-/ (you don't hear that publicized much, but if Trump said it - or any Republican said it - they'd be laughed at publicly in the media). She's the one who led the charge against Bill Clinton's "bimbo eruptions" wherein she silenced female accusers of rape, sexual assault, harassment and other indiscretions (it's not that she should be held responsible for her husband's issues - but that she actively took part in silencing accusers).

Compared to the other candidates - when you take out the fluff and mannerisms, Trump actually has far more reasonable positions, and is far less of a scumbag than the other candidates.
