Is there a problem with 'the King of the social sciences'?

His debunkings of Thomas Sowell are worth a listen too. Quite long tho, because there's a lot to address.

Economics is the only profession where you can reach great eminence without ever being right.
Or something like that. Was framed and hung up in the post graduate economics area.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

Some kind of international figure
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeffrey_Sachs
Sachs suggests that with improved seeds, irrigation and fertilizer, the crop yields in Africa and other places with subsistence farming can be increased from 1 ton per hectare to 3 to 5 tons per hectare. He said that increased harvests would significantly increase the income of subsistence farmers, thereby reducing poverty. Sachs does not believe that increased aid is the only solution. He also supports establishing credit and microloan programs which are often lacking in impoverished areas.[43] Sachs advocates the distribution of free insecticide-treated bed nets to combat malaria. The economic impact of malaria has been estimated to cost Africa $12 billion per year.
Not sure. Maybe just another guy rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Why doom on the progress>?
Population will/is tapering down .....dramatically in some regions to the point of rewilding
Overuse of resources will also taper down hopefully in a controlled manner.
Celebrate the positive ...there's quite enough negative to go around. :prof:

No, I like to measure things, and I like to see the progress somehow proven.

Or even ask the people. The famous happiness index.

Who knew? Laffler of Heritage Foundation invented a fake curve.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laffer_curve
In 2012, economists surveyed by the University of Chicago rejected the viewpoint that the Laffer curve's postulation of increased tax revenue through a rate cut applies to federal US income taxes of the time in the medium term. When asked whether a "cut in federal income tax rates in the US right now would raise taxable income enough so that the annual total tax revenue would be higher within five years than without the tax cut", none of the economists surveyed agreed and 71% disagreed.[17] According to Harvard University economist Jeffrey Frankel, a substantial majority of economists reject the proposition that income taxes are so high in the United States that tax cuts will pay for themselves.[18]
