The systems for selecting candidates is fucked up and has been for a long time. The influence and control exerted by moneyed interests is fucked up. The trade deals cut with China and Mexico, and others, are fucked up. China, e.g., is engaged in predatory trade practices, stealing $200 to $300 billion annually in intellectual property, and is already engage din a trade war against us and our responses have been weak. The Affordable Care Act is monumentally fucked up, and it is unsustainable. It's a monumental fuck up, which has not served even its stated purpose of insuring all Americans who previously did not have insurance. It's fucked up that our industries are disappearing, and that is unsustainable in the long term, because to be a leading nation we have to have significant industrial capacity going forward. Our unemployment situation is fucked up, because of the sheer number of people who are no longer in the workforce - record levels - together with record levels of dependency in the US. The list goes on.

That's the address of CT Corporation in Delaware. CT Corporation is a company that handles "registered agent" and "registered office" activities for businesses. When you create a corporation, it's done at the state level. So, Delaware and every other state has a corporations department, accessible online nowadays, where Articles of Incorporation are filed. Each company must have a "registered office" (an address in the state on which legal process and legal notices can be served, and which is publicly available so people know where to find the company). The resident agent or registered agent is a person who officially has the responsibility to receive notices and legal papers on behalf of a given company. This can be an individual or another company. CT Corporation charges a fee for serving as the resident agent and registered office for companies -- they charge an annual fee. If papers are received by CT Corporation, they have to make sure the company knows about them, and the law considers notice and service of process to be lawfully and properly given if given to the registered agent.

That's the explanation. It's not such a big deal anymore, but Delaware used to be the state of choice for forming corporations, mainly for favorable corporate compliance and state tax (not federal tax) issues. Most states have changed their corporation codes to be more like Delaware though, so for most purposes, forming a company in Delaware doesn't really provide that much advantage.

That's what I think too, but if I were in the unfortunate position of having to choose between those two for your presidency, I'd vote for Trump without hesitation.

But voting is not compulsory in the States. I wonder if the apparent fact that a lot of people don't like a lot of the candidates may lead to an even lower voter turn-out than usual, which might end up being very significant...
