Re: Take my wallet please!
Where in this thread am I taking your gun away? I'm letting my thug go. You can shoot him if you think it's worth the risk etc etc. I'm pretty sure he will run into a Seth eventually, after my encounter.

Re: Take my wallet please!
How the two get their kicks is not my business.
Re: Take my wallet please!
The whole thread is based on the presumption that using force to defend one's wallet is somehow morally or ethically wrong, and the implicit idea is that nobody should resist such predation.Tero wrote:Where in this thread am I taking your gun away? At least that's how I view the thread in context.
Perhaps I'm wrong. If so, no problem, you do as you please and I'll do as I please and we'll all be happy and free.

Evidently not, since you are not being besieged by thugs.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:Does the thug have a thing for little guys who pee themselves?Tero wrote: I'm pretty sure he will run into a Seth eventually, after my encounter.

Re: Take my wallet please!
No the thtead is a practical approach to thugs. And a look at the uselessness of our stuff. The planet has food for 1-2 years. You could survive a little longer if you hoarde cans and have a private stram if fresh water. But in practical terms shooting someone for taking stuff, usually insured, is a dumb thing. Yes, robbers are dumb, so keep your weapon.
I really don't care about honor, pride etc. if I don't live in the thug's world, just passing thru, not worth my time.

But keeping you from passing through and taking everything you have, including your cunt or asshole, for their own personal pleasure and use may be worth THEIR time.Tero wrote:No the thtead is a practical approach to thugs. Therein lies the problem.

Re: Take my wallet please!
I'll let you worry about that. I rely on the Gubment for taking a significant number of thugs out of circulation.
Re: Take my wallet please!
By all means, make that choice for yourself. Just don't presume to make or advocate that choice for me or anybody else and we'll get along fine.Tero wrote:I'll let you worry about that. I rely on the Gubment for taking a significant number of thugs out of circulation.

Re: Take my wallet please!
You spar with the young thugs. I'll take the over 30, if there are any. They have to show me their fish..i mean gun....before they get my wallet.

It ain't over until he says it's over. You don't get to make demands or assert rights. And now you're broke.

Re: Take my wallet please!
I've changed my mind about the fish slapping. You will now have to bring a sword fish to get my wallet.

There is a failure in your premises here.Tero wrote:No the thtead is a practical approach to thugs. And a look at the uselessness of our stuff. The planet has food for 1-2 years. The issue is not "shooting someone for taking stuff." That is not appropriate or even legal.
When someone is mugging you, it is not just your property at risk. The victim does not know if the perpetrator only wants his wallet, or will take the wallet and then shoot him in the face afterward, or in the process. So, one would not be defending oneself to protect merely useless stuff; rather, one is justified in being in reasonable fear for one's life or well-being.
Second, when someone victimizes a person in that manner, even if it turns out only to be a property crime, there are more issues remaining than merely the replacement of that property. The victim's mental well-being is effected. They suffer emotional trauma, and depending on the circumstances anything up to post-traumatic stress. The victim's peace of mind is very often disrupted, and they can become fearful of going places for fear of repeat incidents and whatnot.
When someone takes one's wallet, in addition, it is not just theft of a thing or of money either, there is an invasion of privacy there. personal financial data, personal family information, and the like are interfered with, etc.
none of that has anything to do with honor -- it has to do with the right of a person to be free from the assaults and trespasses of others, the right of that person to their own personal space and their own peace of mind. The right of the person to their own property, too, without it being molested. The right of privacy. The right not to be battered. The right not to be injured.
This thread paints the picture of a clear cut case, where it is known and understood that the misguided miscreant just wants your watch or wallet, and you may as well give it to him and move on. That is a false picture because those cases are not what happens normally. it doesn't reflect reality, because in reality the victim is shocked, surprised, often physically attacked and threatened, frightened, intimidated, assaulted, battered and the like, and throughout they remain fearful that the person attacking them has more interest to do harm than just take a wallet -- and, sometimes that will be the case, and the attacker will be a violent killer in addition to a thief.
