Most definitely. And not just apes. I remember one christmas I was in Ireland and we had a goose for christmas dinner.
There was loads left, and the fridge was full, so we left it in a side room covered, for boxing day's dinner.
Next morning the dog, a farm collie, was creeping around with the most guilty look you have ever seen, on it's face and body language.
We wondered what was wrong with it till we went looking for the goose.
It was gone, of course, and the dish licked clean.

There is no doubt in my mind that that dog was feeling incredibly guilty. (and full).

While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.
