Most of the people anywhere are good people, I learned that in my travels. Flat broke in Tegucigalpa and I got a meal and place to sleep until my money came in. The folks who helped my probably made less per year than I spent on meals in Miami Beach.Tero wrote:I did have a flat tire in the ghetto once. Yes, good people live in ghettos, unfortunately for them. They should take it upon themselves to extirpate the thugs that make their lives so miserable. But I hardly think it's out of line to suggest that your safety as a non-ghetto different-race intruder is far more compromised than it is in, for example, your home community.Tero wrote:I did have a flat tire in the ghetto once. Quite correct. It's another case of the few ruining it for everybody else. Let's get rid of the bad seeds and rotten fruit so it doesn't infect the rest of society.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:Most of the people anywhere are good people, I learned that in my travels. Same point I made earlier. Giving a criminal the idea that they have power over you is STUPID. Try to avoid doing STUPID things, people.piscator wrote:But that's some sort of implied contract. Mugger might not feel bound to comply. It's all his decision. He has the power (and the $$).
Now you are avoiding teh point of the opening post. It's just stuff. Most criminals don't want to rape me, and if I am alone, all they are going to get is the wallet. They just want the wallet. There were not 800 robbery homicides in OaklandGawdzilla Sama wrote:Same point I made earlier. Giving a criminal the idea that they have power over you is STUPID. According to police, $60 and a cell phone were stolen during the robbery.
Stay off North Grand after dark, okay?Tero wrote:That's not my strategy. He wants the wallet, I let him have the wallet. I make it understood the transaction is over. With wallet in hand he WON. He may even brag, he does not lose face. If he shows signs of trying to kill me, I'll make a lot of noise. Just like Zimmerman, but in a more manly manner.

It's not a guarantee and I never said it was. That's why I carry a handgun as well, for those times when the warning is ineffective.piscator wrote:Seth wrote:It's actually ridiculously easy and it quickly becomes habit and you don't even notice you're doing it. You seem to be laboring under the delusion that in a street mugging there are Marquis of Queensbury rules of conduct. There's nothing unmanly about shooting someone who is trying to kill you.Tero wrote:That's not my strategy. He wants the wallet, I let him have the wallet.
