It's not like it's news that the Saudis are hard-line Muslims who don't tolerate criticism of Islam, now is it?
Yeah! And the Klan ain't nuthing but good ole' boys. So if you darkies don't like it, get the fuck out of Indiana.
That's different, this is the US, and the Klan doesn't get to engage in illegal activities here.
But the law in Saudi Arabia is pretty clear. It's their shithole of a country, and they have a right to enforce their laws, even against arrogant foreigners. They may be shitheads for doing so, but if you visit a shithead country, you rub shit on your head or you get out.
So, if it's "legal", nothing should be done about it?
I didn't say that. I merely said that when you're in another country, you abide by that country's laws or you suffer the legal consequences. This makes it prudent, in a hard-line Islamic country, to STUF about religion and respect the law, or face 500 lashes.
You can lobby all you like for changes to Saudi law and I won't argue with you, but you might want to do it from outside Saudi Arabia... or any Caliphate country.

Indeed. But if you go to Saudi Arabia and criticize Islam while trying to change it, you'll have to accept 500 lashes as punishment for your civil disobedience. That's the purpose of civil disobedience, by the way. Not to escape punishment, but to invite it as a demonstration of the wrongfulness of the law.
Have fun!

Subversion used to be a specialty of mine. I'd like to try it again to see if I still have what it takes.

The government doesn't have rights.
It does in Saudi Arabia, and indeed most of the rest of the world, including the UN. Only in America (so far as I know) is the government by, of, and for the People and has NO rights, but only delegated powers and authorities from the People, any or all of which may be revoked by the will of the People.
That's one of the fundamental differences between the US and every other nation. Elsewhere, the people (little "p") are the subjects and vassals of the government. Here, the People are the masters, and the government their servant.
No, it has power. Just because other nations act badly doesn't change that.
