Exactly! We learned Latin in our public school so we could baffle the proletariat, and keep them in place!

I wish I understood Latin. It always sounds so profound. :tea:

Latin is annoying. It's Latin's fault that I still cringe when people say "the criteria is", "ad nauseum" "what is your data" et cetera, and I have only done that dead language that's not even a prerequisite for law or medicine any more, and only catholic clergy even read it today, and if they speak it at all, its church Latin and they speak it badly, for two years, and failed the second - 42 fucking years ago, and, and, and... *deep breath*

Worst of all, it is an incredibly elegant thing, both grammatically and stylistically, as anyone who can read a bit of Latin literature - any author will do - would probably quite happily attest.

Now, where were we? I'm a little dunk. Ah, yes. Quotes. Better get from my rant back on topic. Need to tie it all together now.

In vino veritas.

Anyone quote Churchill yet? Well fuck it, I'm not going to be arsed to read 2 whole pages!

What a patronising cunt.

I do quote him quite often, particularly a couple of things he said about democracy. Churchill had a way with words, summarising an issue clearly and succinctly. He was also a master of retorts.

Someone: "You are drunk!"
Churchill: "In the morning I shall be sober. You will still be ugly"

Someone else: "In Eton they taught us to wash our hands afterward."
Churchill: "At Harrow they taught us not to piss on our hands."

Paraphrased. I can't be arsed to look them up.

Since you've called me a patronizing cunt previously? Yeah. I think so.

I have not called you a patronising cunt previously. I have also apologised for what I did say about you in a most unreserved manner, and that I withdraw everything I said about you in that thread. I also said that it was all my mistake, and explained that the mistake arose from me mistaking you for Pawiz. If that is not good enough for you, :pawiz:

Sorry about the mistake then.

No worries, and you don't need to take my word for it either. Just read this post, the one immediately underneath it, and the fifth one down from there.

The only other direct exchange I recall us having at Rationalia was when you described a post of mine as "More passive aggressive bullshit" and me as "a snippy little princess". I forgot to thank you for that at the time, but now that you blew your top again, I was reminded of it, and wish to belatedly express my gratitude.
