Liberalism Is Finished, Time For Radical Thinkers Again?

Post by Atheist-Lite » Sat Sep 03, 2011 2:12 pm

Liberalism is finished. It is producing dystopia and denials, lies and corporate 'spaces' that surplant the needs of real people with the phoney needs of a digital marketplace con devised by cretinous quants. :smoke:

"How Liberals Argue" is a realistic depiction of liberalism?
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein’s brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops. - Stephen J. Gould

American liberalism appears to have blindspots when convenient. :coffee:

Yes, but I'm wondering if the cartoon depiction you provided is a fair representation of mainstream liberalism.

I am not a liberal, fairness is irrelevant to me. I despise the weakness of the golden rule and the idea of equality being handed down from on high makes me want to vomit with its inherent contradiction. The cartoon however, is a useful caricuture with plenty of 'message' that provides a opener to the debate.

Ah, it's a caricature then. It's not a caricature of mainstream liberalism, though, unless you can provide statistical information to the contrary.

Democracy? The heart of Liberalism is corrupt. Would there be a democratic vote for the best passenger to pilot a airliner? or be put in charge of a nuclear powerstation? Yet entire socieities are governed by mob 'majority' rule. In a modern industrial society this si just not feasible so corporate interests are in charge whilst politics is a spectacular side show; bread & circusses. The Liberal ideology sold out to corporatism, the near cousin of fascism, a long time ago. So people vote for a figurehead, little less than a muppet on a stick. That is Liberalism...it is a jam tommorow, whilst stealing jam today, creed of fake fairness....and stats are not necessary to show this when I've got my eyes. Do the wars not continue under Obama? the bailouts to big interests and the crushing of the little man on mainstreet?

Yep - you live in a dystopia. That's why you aren't allowed to post any old bollocks you like here.

I'm just saying Liberialism is a broken ideology and if people with a responsible mindset don't start thinking about 'enlightened' alternatives there are people in the wings, and in places of power, willing to use regressive repressive ideologies to maintain or improve their own positions in the coming socio-economic trainwreck. The time to think outside the box is now and time isn't on our side. :smoke:

Ending liberalism is fine with me. As long as I get to be in charge of the new order and you don't.

I'd prefer technical experts be in charge and they elect amongst themselves a 'leader' who would also be a expert. These experts would be real technical specialists not politicans. The head of health adminstration would be a medical expert not a financial accountant nor a career politican for instance. A technate that was run by technocrats not beancounters nor egotistical sociopathic career politicans.

'Muslims are taking over Europe', pretty safe to say that anyone who says that is a bigot, hatemonger and isnt worth having a conversation with

Liberalism is a broad concept. For example I always vote for the liberal candidate, but I think a lot of liberalism is political correctness gone wrong. But the alternative is to vote for fundamentalists and hillbillies and gun nuts. And at the sane time rich people's taxes.
