I think it "interesting" to consider the following:

Murdered for their beliefs:

Martin Luther King, Jr.
Robert Kennedy.
Ghandi.

Not murdered for their beliefs:

Adolf Hitler.
Joseph Stalin.
Pol Pot.

The first three were kind and loving, and wouldn't dream of killing anybody who "stood in their way".
The last three were horrible and deathly, and would kill anybody who "stood in their way".

Thus the last three defeated all competitors, while the first three, let their competitors let live and be free.
