And I suggested that men be barred from political office. They could do everything else, be president of universities, business leaders, but they just couldn’t serve in any elected position for 100 years.
[Laughter and applause]
I think we’d have a lot more emphasis on education and healthcare and a lot less on Army and the Navy and the Marine Corps.
Ted Turner says that if men were barred from public office, women would do all the caring and nurturing-y kind of things, and they wouldn't do so much of the fighting kind of things. Is he right?
Are women and men really that fundamentally different that if women held all of the public offices, they'd defund the military and we'd have nothing but an educated and healthy populace? Or, is he saying that women are irresponsible, and would defund the military leaving our country defenseless and at the mercy of our enemies, preferring to pay for education and healthcare instead of protecting American interests? Or, is he saying that women would inherently find the appropriate balance that men cannot find?
