Really I think you are lying to yourself, with the wonder of being anonymous and my wife not knowing I can say I tip someone on the basis of how much I want to have sex with them. I'm paying for a brief fantasy.

I don't tip for service as I expect decent service anyway (people who don't provide it get sacked). I can only really classify service into acceptable and not acceptable and generally when its not acceptable its more to do with staff levels not the staff themselves

However, in my experience with places like Hooters, the waitresses are not tipped because they are hot. They are tipped because of the interaction. They engage in banter, flirty behavior, etc. I've been with groups of friends at places like Hooters and had a hot waitress who wasn't very friendly, wasn't playing the game, and we would leave and go somewhere else, or switch tables on some pretext. Yes, hot women are great to have as waitresses, but even at Hooters, they're not all hot, and even the ones that are good looking aren't "all that" most of the time. You get a lot of "average" there at Hooters. However, when she adds to the atmosphere by engaging in banter and stuff, then the beers keep flowing and tips mount.

Men are there to perv, women are there to be perved at. Both of course know this but no one wants to be seen to be a perv or a perv target. So men tipping well might well make it seem like they are even more obviously perving so less likely to tip.

Go to a straight strip bar of course and its all out in the open and tips are going to be proportional to the targets attractiveness.

Regardless the only time I've ever bad service at a restaurant was when it didn't employ enough staff which is far from uncommon
