Re: Misery
There are more than one periods of miserable times in my life, and I don't really know which one was the most miserable of them all, but what sticks in my memory the most, was the prospect of turning 30. To me, that was the the point in time where I could no longer regard myself as young, and I dreaded its inevitability for almost two years.Scrumple wrote:What is the most miserable time of your life and how long did it last? and how did you move beyond it? if you indeed have?
Once I did reach that age, the depression and anxiety lifted on its own accord. I just mentally shrugged my shoulders: "Oh, well, I'm no longer young. I'll just make do without being young and enjoy life regardless."
Turning 60 was not particularly pleasing either, but its approach was not nearly as traumatic. I handled this signpost, indicating the transition from middle age to old without pleasure, but with a good measure of equanimity.
As far as misery related to the termination of personal relationships are concerned, the last one was the most intense, and it's not over yet. I'm kind of handling it now by keeping in mind that my most recent partner gave me the best years of my life, that our soulmateship and love came unexpectedly late in it and that I imagine to have reciprocated in some measure.

Re: Misery
Interesting thread, though. (I mean that sincerely.)

Re: Misery
Misery began long before The Beatles, it began way, way back.

What will the world be like after its ruler is removed?
