Fuck me I didn't realise there was such a difference. I must get a HDTV, dammit!
Gaming will never be the same, movies are f'ing unreal. I watched Star Trek on blu-ray and was bowled over, I had an Enterprise on my wall at around 100 inches.

Re: What are you playing now?
This one sounds excellent though obviously a bit out of my price range, the other cheaper ones are the same price as HD TVs and can give you bigger pictures, I think I'd save up for one of these instead of a TV when I finally make the jump to HD.

Right now I'm still using a crap SD CRT widescreen, it's good but quite often difficult to read what's going on in PS3 games that are now designed for HD.

HD ready, 3D ready!! It is very bright and is pretty good in the light. You needn't have a blackout. I have a modest throw of some 11 feet but get a superb 110 inch view.
Really is a great piece of kit this.
Might not be the one for you, everyone want something different, but for a budget projector this one is the best. It even outshines others more pricey. The 3D ready is novel BUT you do need £200 add-on, it has only just arrived on the market so i'd expect the price to drop some day.
Bulb will last 4000 hrs roughly (couple of years maybe?), that is good however I keep a TV also, for the mundane viewing.
I got mine for 395 quid, delivered, from Currys. I see they've kncked the price up a little - but this projector is a higher spec than it's predecessor the HD700X, that retailed at more than twice the price. In fact i'm surprised the HD600X is under 400.
It is best run thru a HDMI source but I also plug my laptop into it via VGA, and stream sport. Great, f'ing great. If you don't yet have a decent audio system it does have it's own speakers built-in.
It is simply da bomb.

Re: What are you playing now?
Thanks for the info, I already looked at a few reviews for the 600x, it does sound like a good machine but I've seen a 200x on ebay for 577 quid and am now in the process of trying to get my flat mate to half in for itIronclad wrote:No mate, get this. http://www.projectorshop24.co.uk/optoma ... d600x.htmlThe Curious Squid wrote:This one sounds excellent though obviously a bit out of my price range, the other cheaper ones are the same price as HD TVs and can give you bigger pictures, I think I'd save up for one of these instead of a TV when I finally make the jump to HD.

Gone back to playing DragonAge I got to the point where you know what you should have done earlier on and you are tempted to start again . I got to that point and it was annoying me so I gave it a rest for a long time but now I think I want to finish it .

Re: What are you playing now?
I'm not ready to commit myself to a new game just yet, so I'm still fucking around with FFXIII. I've already beaten the game again and am just leveling up and trying to beat all the marks. I think I've got them all even the big dino turtle!) except for the big cactus, and the two twin legless levitating magic-casting bubble-shielded cocksuckers up on the rock formation.
I also disassembled my Genji Glove and got that ingredient that transforms weapons into mega weapons. Didn't need the glove to beat the turtle dino anyway. So I've been spending an awful lot of time and gil now leveling up Lightning's weapon. Does it really make any difference? It's hard to tell. I wonder if I'll go to the trouble of upgrading the other weapons.

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

Re: What are you playing now?
Feck, You looking forward to Crysis 2?
Tat, it does make a difference though be warned, if you're trying to 5* fights then upgrading to 3rd tier weapons reduces the fight time, as does adding STR or MGK boosters to your characters.
I used Lighting's Quick Stagger ability (can't remember exactly how to get it, you need to equip a certain weapon and some accessories and it appears in her Status section) to kill the Cactus, the fight lasted 5 seconds and I did that early on. There's a way of killing it with Sahz using firestrike and fire spells that gets you out of it's attack range where you can just kill it with ease but I haven't tried it. As for the two floating things, take Snow, Fang and Lightning in your team and set them all on Commando, focus on one of them, it'll take a while but stick with it. When the first one is dead the second one isn't that tough.
I only have 3 marks to 5* and a few items to get before I've totally finished the whole game.
One more thing, when you kill all of the marks in that ring of stones that make the big guy roar, the dino turtles change to harder turtles, just sayin
Sahz is great for killing them.

I'm terrified some thing will fuck it up ......You know the system requirements will be too high or the game designers will have liked different stuff to me in the first one and the new one will be shit IMHO .
Duke Nukem as well if it's not brilliant I will be unhappy and if my system needs to be faster I will be very poor

Re: What are you playing now?
I love Killzone. Or at least I do when I get on to a team. Killzone requires teamwork. If your team isn't capturing and holding spawn points they will get raped. I use an engineer class because he's a good all-rounder. I usually take the secondary role of gaining spawn points to get the team nearer to objectives with the tactician and medic while the marksmen take point and the infiltrator tries to get past enemy lines. The Curious Squid wrote:How you finding Killzone now you've had a bit of time on it, Ani?

I like the way this game is unforgiving to noobs. It doesn't give you any perks or killstreaks and when not levelled up your character can be quite weak firepower and ability wise. If you try play run 'n' gun or one man army you're fucked. The levels are all well designed, multi-tiered and there are many paths to take across levels.
My favourite mode is Objecitive. A game with an attacking team and defending team. The attacking team usually having to make their way across the map in three stages opening up each section. For instance you might have to plant bombs to open doorways giving you access to the next area of the map then you will have to shut down some vents which have blocked the final section off with poisonous gas. My only gripe here it that there are only 3 Operations maps with GG saying that further Operations DLCs being unlikely. WTF?
Then on top of that there are mech suits and jetpacks, gun turrets and droids.
