Yeah. I just know it's being released. Nothing else.

Well, it's looking fucking shit hot. Like the Uncharted series, or The Last Guardian, Killzone is one of those reasons for having a PS3. Tech details: It fully supports 3D, and not in a half-assed attempt like GT5. It's built from the ground up with that in mind (but obviously is fine without 3D). The Move controls also aren't a gimmick and they've really went to town to show how well they can be used (Wii gamers are crying).

The Killzone series is always noted for the graphics, and this is looking incredible. Apparently it's using close to 100% of the PS3's power. It's a single player and multiplayer game. The multiplayer was brilliant on Killzone 2, and the beta testers of the new one are claiming it's a COD killer. I've not played the beta, so I can't say more than that. The single player story has a great campaign.

In the future, there are two human factions. The ISA and the Helghast, more or less good guys and bad guys respectively. But as with all wars, there are heroes and villains on both sides. Centuries before the time the games are set, some humans set off from Earth to start their own civilisation. They chose Helghan as their home planet. It's a shitty place, really dangerous. But in their time there, the Helghast have become very strong indeed, with a powerful military and weapons technology that everyone else would never have expected. In the past, there had been tension between the ISA and the Helghast, and even a war broke out. Then the first game takes place. Here is the intro for the first game:

In Killzone, the Helghast invade Vekta (a nice human planet much like Earth) and the ISA tries to defend it. It's very intense, a lot of political backstabbing and drama but mostly mindless carnage and shooting. Killzone games are brutal by the way, wait until you see the new "brutal melee" mechanics. Anyway, you play as Templar leading a squad including this total badass (but dumb as fuck) soldier called Rico, and another couple who didn't make it to the other games. Do you save the day? Kinda. You stop the traitor in the ISA who allows the Helghast ships to get close enough to Vekta in the first place. And Earth reinforces turn up. But Vekta is truly fucked, and the war is really kicking off now. That's how the first one ends.

Here is the intro from the second game, on the PS3:

The ISA is now invading Helghan. Templar is in this game, but he's behind the scenes now. You play as a new character Sevchenko (always known as Sev) and you also play as Sev in the new game coming out this month. The invasion is awesome. The action in Killzone 2 is epic. The ISA does a lot of damage, but it turns out the Helghast have developed new technologies that nobody knew about. It's mostly thanks to unique natural resources on Helghan. Attacking was the worst idea in the long sad history of bad ideas. All sorts of shit goes on and hits the fan. Despite ISA forces getting totally fucked in the battles, you are your team (mostly) survive long enough to get to assassination targets to end all assassination targets (bald fuck in the above videos). Rico, being an idiot and total dick, kills him rather than capturing him. This is how Killzone 2 ends. Their leader is dead, but the Helghast are still strong. ISA forces are either destroyed or separated. So it's a pretty shitty place to be in. You are stuck, with a tiny group of soliders, on an extremely dangerous enemy planet, with no chance for evac. Basically, you're definitely going to die.

Killzone 3: How much shit can we do to fuck up the Helghast before we die?

It looks fucking beautiful, and the controls have apparently been really refined. Check it out if you want really intense shooting, awesome brutal melee, some of the best graphics on the current generation consoles, and stupidly good set pieces.

I've played the second one. I didn't think the multi-player was that great. It was annoying that you couldn't lean out like in the one player. What's with that shit? I hope you can do it in the second one. COD killer is a serious claim. A very serious claim. What timezone will it be released on tomorrow or will it just be released at 12 where ever you are?

Well, can you see COD ever getting back to what it was? Infinity Ward made the good games, Treyarch made the shit games, and now Infinity Ward is ruined and missing it's most important people. Activision have realised they can release a game every year and that it will sell better than all others even if it's shit. I'll be happy to be proven wrong, but I don't think we'll see any better than MW1 and MW2.

Nah. I doubt it. I traded in my Black Ops. I just thought it was shite. I was playing MW2 the other night and the bastards have hacked it. There was people playing playing as admin and just calling out loads of killstreak rewards.

More Killzone 3 details.

It's mahoosive. If it was on xbox 360 (which technically wouldn't be possible anyway), it would take up 9 discs.

Also, behind the scenes acting:

The new controls:

Oh, and FUCKING JETPACKS BABY.

Just looked at some beta gameplay. It doesn't look like you can lean out. Seriously, what is fucking with that.
It does look better than the 2nd one, though.

I'm really enjoying Dead Space 2 a lot more today than I did yesterday. It's a bit of a slow burner and you could be playing over an hour before it starts heating up. The controls aren't as fiddly as I thought now that I'm used to them and have tinkered with them a bit.

I would have recommended getting the first one, I loved that game. The second one has a lot of stuff tied in from DS1 and makes more sense if you've been keeping up with the story.

Finished it last night, it's a great game but gets a bit too hard near the end, I was playing it on normal and was really scraping by for ammo and health from Ch.13 onwards.

Though if you encounter a new enemy it's fun to let it kill you, some of the deaths are graphic to say the least.
