This doesn't really go here but it does make me want to play Link to the Past again:

What I have been playing is Reus, which is a lovely little puzzle/strategy game that actually has quite a bit of depth and complexity once you get into it.

[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

Keep trying to get into dark souls bjut it is just so fucking difficult that I end up giving up in frustration. Stack at a bit right at the start where all three paths I can take are blocked by a big critter that one hits me. Think the way round it is going to be grinding the little critters to level a bit. Not sure if I like it enough to grind
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

You don't tackle the big guy straight away. You're supposed to flee through a door on the left. After that you can get good equipment. You shouldn't have to grind at all. It's brilliantly balanced.
Try not give up. It's one of the best and most rewarding games ever.

EDIT: If you want to co-op I can help show you around a bit and give you an idea of how it should be done. Can't help you until after that first boss though.

As for me I just finished playing the three hour long Dark Souls 2 beta. I love the smoother mechanics and the co-op is made more enjoyable by the dedicated servers. The new graphics engine makes the world a prettier place in it's own gloomy way.
Not finding it as challenging after completing annd mastering the first one. I'm used to its ways. Though one of the bosses was a pain. Like the new dual swordsman class. They've added proper animations for dual-wielders now.

Keeping my PS3 just for this gsme next March. Wish they'd just release on PS4 though.

Got through him, it is the next bit I'm stuck on up in the undead berg. Load of little guys that I have got the hang of peeling off their group and splatting then there is a choice of a big guy with his back to you in a tunnel, big guy at the bottom of a tower or a fucking enormous minotaur that all squish me in about a second. Considering restarting as a ranged guy. Kiting looks super effective but set up as bandit at the moment so have to go toe to toe to do any damage.

Ah! Ok. I can help you there if you want. The guy at the bottom of the tower and knight can be left 'til later but the minotaur needs to be cleared to proceed.

To tackle the minotaur you're best to flee back up the tower then holding your weapon with both hands plunge attack to take off a good chunk of energy. Then roll under his legs and stay behind him.

I can do it don't worry. I just get frustrated when shit like that pops up without a save point before it and I have to run through all the little critters again before I try something new

I can give you some general tips.

In human form you have a slightly higher item find and can summon other players into your world. You can also be invaded.

The more humanity you have stored the higher your item find (up to ten).

The biggest mistake newcomers make (including myself) is that they grind. Grinding is unnecessary. You should really only be levelling up about five points after each boss starting at level 10 for the Taurus Demon (won't matter so much if playing offline, but if you want to summon people it's best that you're at around the same level as everyone else for matchmaking purposes). Reinforcing weapons and armour is far more effective.

If you must grind the best way to do it is to drop your summon sign down at the bonfire before a boss to be summoned into other's worlds. You get half souls for enemies and bosses.

Parrying is your friend. I know that sounds like asking much when you're just starting off and barely surviving as it is, but it comes in handy in the later stages for taking stronger foes down.

Kill that merchant near the bonfire before the minotaur when you've got everything you need for an awesome katana.

I played Skyrim. Didn't like it. I mean after Dark Souls the combat just seemed weak. The character moves around like a floating torso with two spindly arms mounted on springs. There is absolutely no heft what-so-ever in the weapons or any hack to the chops.
I guess it is easier going though. It's piss easy.

Depends what you want. If you want massive amounts of exploration and free play it is amazing. If you want difficult try a pure mage on legendary. Everything will one hit you. You have to run round like a little bitch lobbing the occasional spell.
