Which book have you re-read the most?

Post by Pappa » Sun Nov 24, 2013 11:09 am

Mine would be Nineteen Eighty-Four. I'm guessing I've read it about 12 times. At one point I used to read it every year or so.

I've always liked the feeling I get re-reading a favourite book.

Good Omens is the only book I've gone back and read multiple times.
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

I haven't read any book 12 times, but Crime and Punishment I read 5 times (and there were two translations). Others I've read a few times: On the Road, Rum Diary, Cat's Cradle, The Picture of Dorian Grey and Fight Club :hehe:

Wamphyri by Brian Lumley. It's basically Jason Bourne with vampires and wormholes. What's not to love?!! :)

Actually, I might have read the Bourne Identity probably as much as that.

Hang on, The Magician by Raymond E Feist. LOVE that book.

Four or 5 would be my tops and then only re-reading series to catch up to the latest. ( Malazan Book ok of the Fallen series - that's a chore as each novel is 900 pgs )

Perhaps Pillars of the Earth as a single book...3 times each about a decade apart or more. Enjoyed it every time.

I've read The Baroque Cycle a good few times. Like Pappa I've had many read-throughs of Nineteen Eighty-Four, but the book I have read most is Finnegans' Wake. (Yes Pappa the apostrophe is in the correct place.)

Ernest Hemingway - Finca Vigia collection probably 3 or 4 times.
Notes from the Underground - 3 or 4 times
The Gambler - 2 or 3 times
Crime and Punishment - 3 or 4 times

Dostoyevsky is boss - if you don't mind his religious overtones (they can be interpreted variously).
