Painfully Predictable Book Reviews.

Post by Animavore » Mon Nov 23, 2009 11:56 am

One of my favourite books I've read this year is Ben Goldacre's Bad Science.
In this book we absolutely destroys the bullshit of proponents of alternative medicine in an hilariously witty and panache style.
I look at the one star reviews on Amazon expecting to see a load of angry reviews from New-Agers and 'Big-Pharma' conspiracists. I was not disappointed. (and yet I was :nono: )

The same can be said of the hurt-feeling dishonesty of the psychic trusters who gave one star reviews of Randi's book. Clearly these people haven't read it and the ones who do, like with Ben Goladacre, complain about his 'sarcastic tone' or 'sneering attitude' (Where there actually is none. These people just can't take ownage).

The first 'reviewer' here of Michael Shermer's excellent book Why People Believe Strange Things lashes out at Shermer with one abrasive and excoriating review which deals a deadly blow to rational thought.

I have this book ('weird' not 'strange') and it is one of my favourites. Excellent book.

Yar. I has it too. Don't know why I wrote 'strange'.
