I was looking up local used bookstores and picked up Life by Keith Richards. It is more colorful than most, as it is in first person. I am pretty sure it captures the chaos of their lives pretty well. I was mostly interested in his ideas about music and where all the stuff came from. He works mostly with a band to arrange songs, not solo. I am partial to guitar players, and pretty much would avoid any Mick Jagger books. Paul McCartney books as well. I have a good grasp of him as a musician.
Mostly I read about the songs and avoid the personal angle. The life of an artist can be painful, with episodes of boredom etc. I just can't get my head around the life of famous people and their empty pursuits to fill up all the spare time and spend the money. Romantic side, blah. Just fucking different people through the decades.
Any of them that you found worth reading? I have yet to read a Pink Floyd book. I might read one that focuses on the music. The Waters-Gilmour split just does not seem a fun way to spend my time. I could be reading about hoary marmots instead. Resting, eating, sunning, fucking. About the same as a rock star.
