Was Pretty Woman ever rated? I mean apart from by the same section of the population that buy Mills and Boon books? I would put it in the category of shit films, not over rated films.

Blow-Up.
Supposed to be a classic thriller.
Nothing happens.
Then...
After a while...
Nothing continues to happen.

THEN...
JUST FOR A WHILE...
IT LOOKS LIKE...
Something might happen...

...

But it doesn't...

Non-sequitur leading to very short conversation with hippy chick...

THE END

Forrest Gump.
Sentimental pile of drivel.
Word. This would be third on my list behind Schindler's List and T2.

I'm probably the only person in the world who hasn't seen it and refuses to. A few years ago my ex and I took a holiday to Savannah, GA, and Charleston, SC. All of the tour guides and books gushed about this famous Forrest Gump site here and that one there where the film was shot. We    and waited to see some actual interesting things...

I agree
Great for kids but why grown-up people are lauding this and, even worse, going to conventions dressed as characters in this (don't worry, in a few years they'll all be blue sex kittens... well, they'll be blue kittens) is beyond me.

Exactly - that my kid is really into Star Wars, sure, great for a ten-year-old boy. But as an adult, what a bunch of pseudo-saga schmaltz.

Agreed, the original Star Wars was revolutionary in terms of SFX and scope, and The Empire Strikes Back is a rare example of a sequel that's better than the first film but if Star Wars came out today it would just be an average science fantasy adventure, there's nothing particularly amazing about the story.

Thank you for your support. I'll be expecting you to cover my back as soon as the Trekkies get wind of this.

Oh Phew, I thought it was just me.
Taken in "context" of the times they were released, they are good. But there are films, now, with better stories, better effects, better characterisation etc etc.
