Over the last few years I've got in to watching classic films I'd never seen before. I've just struggled through Gone With The Wind. Aside from the horrendous romanization of the confederacy, there's nothing in it but endless meandering dramas of irritating and unpleasant characters. How was it ever considered a great film?
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

I don't know. I've never watched it, and barring a CIA interrogation I never will.

I felt the same way when I finally got round to Lawrence of Arabia. "I am a river to my people," my arse.
