Oh boy. That happened with a number of old TV shows IIRC. The cost of the media was (relatively speaking) very high, and people just didn't "think ahead" about preserving content for the future.

In and around the time Pete and Dud were performing, the Oz obscenity trials were held, the word "fuck" was said in television for the first time to storms of controversy, Mary Whitehouse and her moral majority were flexing their muscles, and two religious cunts eviscerated the Life of Brian in a despicably disingenuous and dishonest manner.



Also, anyone who ad-libs a monologue about the recently dead Pope lying in state on the catafalque in St Peter's giving him the horn is a genius.

Superb 1970s trolling, in my (not so) humble opinion.
