The name of a Japanese film director....
I wonder if anyone could help me with this. I'm trying to find out the name of a Japanese film director who is know for his use of certain types of scene transitions, such as cutting from one shot to the next with actors in almost identical positions, or certain coloured objects appearing in the same area of the frame. I don't remember the era. Colour was present, but I'm not sure if the films were shot in B&W and hand coloured certain elements or whether they were shot in colour... it was almost 20 years ago I saw them. I can remember some scene transitions though, such as a man sitting at a table about to eat dinner, cutting to another person in exactly the same position... and another transition, I think from a red ball to a red sheet on a washing line. That's about all I can recall.
